Clause 7.3.5 Design and development verification

Design and development verification is the formal check that is done at the end of the design and development process to see if the results meet the original requirements.

For example: does the drawing meet the customer's, regulatory, and other requirements? Does the recipe meet the customer's expectations?

If the design and development output is approved, the organization will go ahead with manufacturing the product or providing the service based on design. Therefore, it should be clear (for example in the design plan) who is authorized to perform the design and development verification, how the verification is done, and where it is recorded.

Design and development verification should:

  • evaluate if output (7.3.3) meets input (7.3.2)

  • identify problems (if any) and propose (solution) necessary action

Records (4.2.4) of design and development verification and actions taken thereof shall be maintained.
